Partnerships Update

We are thrilled to have made partnerships with three key organisations being; DATTA (Design and Technology Teachers Association), ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) and The Royal Society of Victoria.

DATTA is the peak professional body for design and technology teachers and is highly influential in the provision of professional learning in applied STEM for schools. DATTA have many strong connections to industry partners and are keen to share resources with us, collaborate on teacher professional development opportunities and potentially host events and conferences within our tech school.

ACMI are well known for their presence in Federation Square and its archives but also have another arm named ACMI X, located at the rear of the Arts Centre Spire. ACMI X is focussed on a range of activities relating to the moving image including, games, coding, content production, social media and more. It also features an incubator for like-minded creatives. Partnership activities discussed ranged from curation advice, coding and gaming activities to exhibitions within the Tech School. Certainly, some exciting possibilities!

We have also have partnered with the Royal Society of Victoria to collaborate on promoting science literacy through the Tech Schools. The Royal Society of Victoria convenes Victoria’s science community. It is the State’s oldest learned society and a part of Australia’s intellectual life since 1854. The Society provides a dynamic program of lectures, symposia and forums about science. Famous for funding the explorations of explorers (eg Burke and Wills), the Royal Society is committed to promoting science in the community with a particular focus on culturally and linguistically diverse groups and the Whittlesea Tech School provides a mutual vehicle to achieve that aim.
