Virtual Indigenous Art Exhibition

In collaboration with the Koorie Academy of Excellence, Banyule Nillumbik Tech School and Aboriginal atist, Emma Bamblett, this exhibition shoecases the artworks and stories of Koorie Academy of Excellence students.

The artworks were created by students through our recent Virtual Indigenous Art Holiday Program, which was funded by the Department of Education and Training.

Held over three days in the 2020 September/October school holiday break, 20 plus students joined virtually from the comfort of their homes to discover their inner artist, gain knowledge about their culture, its art, symbols, history and stories and learn industry-based digital design skills, before creating their own personal artworks.

Aboriginal artist, Emma Bamblett, joined the program as our cultural and art mentor, sharing her knowledge of Aboriginal art, what inspires her and how she creates an artwork. We shared our knowledge in using the design programs, Adobe Illustrator and Vectr, to create digital artworks utilising digital design techniques such as basic drawing, tracing, type and collage.

Enjoy the journey!
